If you are familiar with what can be made with manually operated machine tools, you are also familiar with their limitations. This course is the first step towards breaking out of those limitations and learning how to interface with CNC machine tools to make parts otherwise impossible from a manually operated point of view. You will learn how to take a solid model in wood, plastic or aluminum and select tools, speeds and feeds and machining operations and translate them into the G-Code. Comfort with using HSMWorks software will be necessary to successfully operate the Artisan's Asylum Multicam industrial CNC router.
The successful student will have the wherewithal to write tool-paths in HSMWorks for the control of CNC equipment to make cool parts.
Should have some experience with either manually operated machine tools or small power tools at the very least. Students must be at least 18 years old.
Artisan's Asylum will provide computers with HSMWorks installed for all students.
What to Bring:
Students should bring with them a willingness to learn and explore, a notebook and writing utensil.
