Event description

Description

With only a few weeks before the HSC begins, now is the time to master the art of ADAPTING essays and creative writing pieces to the questions and stimuli given on the day. In this exclusive 3.5-hour workshop, Ignite will take you through all the tools that can be easily implemented when presented with a whole variety of exam questions that require distinct forms of adaptation. We will provide ample practice questions for the Discovery paper (ALL TEXTS) and for the Modules belonging to Paper 2 (TEXTS BELOW ONLY). Moreover, students will be given on-the-spot feedback for responses offered up before having the presenter demonstrate simple changes to sentences that better address the question. By the end of the day, the following questions will all be answered:

  • How much of my essay should I adapt to the question and what elements of the essay should be adapted the most?

  • What is the best way to answer the question in my introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion?

  • How can I answer the question without changing my entire essay? Where can I get away with small tweaks to my sentences and where might I have to re-write the entire sentence?

  • How do I answer questions with quotes or extracts from the text? What about questions with multiple key terms and phrases?

  • How can I adapt my prepared creative writing piece to any stimuli without having to write a completely new creative on the day.
