Event description

Description

Presented by HRC Twin Cities & UMN Carlson School of Management
Sponsored by U.S. Bank

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees. In 2017, 515 major businesses earned a top score of 100 percent and the distinction as “Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.”

Beck Bailey, Deputy Director of the Workplace Equality Program with HRC, leads the CEI report and consults with companies across the country to help effect inclusive policies in the workplace. Beck will join us to explore a conversation regarding the intersection of workplace equality, business objectives, as well as recruiting and retention of employees.

We’ll hear from a panel of experts from local, Twin Cities companies and the University of MN, Carlson School of Management on issues related to:

  • How the CEI has become an important benchmark for business, and how the survey continues to shape workplace equality across the country.

  • What it really means to score a perfect 100, the rigor behind the process, and how companies can continue to stay ahead.

  • What local Minnesota companies are doing to go above and beyond the CEI benchmark to drive true inclusivity and equality in the workplace.

  • How companies can successfully leverage the CEI to attract/retain LGBTQ candidates. Likewise, how students can use the benchmark as a filter in the recruiting process.

Who Should Attend
This session is a perfect fit for LGBTQ and ally employees of local companies, employee resource groups and leaders, HR/D&I professionals, senior-level executives, and students interested in workplace equality.

HRC envisions a world where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation improves the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people by working to increase understanding and encourage the adoption of LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices. We build support for LGBTQ people among families and friends, co-workers and employers, pastors and parishioners, doctors and teachers, neighbors, and the general public. Through the following programs and projects, we are enhancing the lived experiences of LGBTQ people and their families, as we change hearts and minds across America and around the globe.
