ABOUT THE BAND:

Pushing Chain is Boyd Blomberg on guitar and vocals and Adam Moe on fiddle and vocals. They have been playing together for 20 years—seven as Pushing Chain. Their third release, Sorrows Always Swim, marks a highlight of their career together. It took three years to come together, but they knew it needed a classic country feel. By teaming up with folk legend Bill Kirchen (Commander Cody & his Lost Planet Airmen) and Mark Hallman (The Congress House Studio), who produced and played on the 12 original Americana/roots songs. This album is Pushing Chain at their best, playing and singing their original folky-tonk music backed by some of the best players in Austin, Texas: Kirchen on guitar, Hallman on piano and organ, David Carroll on bass, and Rick Richards on drums. Texas guitar legend Redd Volkaert also makes an appearance on the last cut, delivering a straight-up Americana/country record that would have been as at home in 1968 as it is in 2018.

Pushing Chain travels as a duo, playing original folk-tonk, roots and Americana music that features tight harmonies and a gonzo approach to performance which keeps their shows fresh audiences on their toes. These guys believe in strong harmonies, kazoos, laughter, sad songs, happy songs, and bringing everything into their concerts. Boyd and Adam know there are still so many important songs to be written, and that a good band can make strangers share a table.

Boyd and Adam call Northern Minnesota home, and they each made their home on the shores of Lake Superior. Boyd lives in a small cabin in Lutsen, and Adam resides in Duluth, about 90 miles. Learn more about Pushing Chain on their website.
