Event description

Description

Roots, shoots and muddy boots! During this four-day program (July 24-27, 9am-12pm) kids ages 4-8 will become an integral part of a working farm! Working and playing in small groups, they will tend crops and livestock, pick fresh produce that they will use to create a daily snack and learn about the origins of the foods we eat through fun, hands-on, age-appropriate activities. Our mission is to connect children with the earth and to help cultivate an appreciation for growing food.

Activities may include:
Butterfly release
Collecting eggs and tending hens
Meet Some real worms and learn how to compost

Sample different kinds of local honey and learn about bees

Touch a tractor
Create fresh, home-grown recipes

***note that the program is 4 days instead of 5 this year.

FAQs:
Do you offer transportation or after-care?
Not at this time.

Will camp be cancelled due to weather?
The short answer is no. Farming happens no matter the weather so we ask that children be prepared with proper footwear and clothing in the event of rain. In the event of cancellation by the farm, you will be alerted by 7am the day of the cancellation.

Can I stick around during camp?
Farm-to-Fork is a drop off program. We have a wonderful group of counselors composed of educators from a variety of backgrounds as well as parents who will take every precaution to ensure a safe and fun week.

Will breakfast or lunch be served?
No, but there will be a snack that your kids prepare for themselves from fresh produce we pick.

What should my child bring?

We will be providing a detailed list of what your child will need for the week after you have registered. The most important things to consider are a big sun hat with a brim (we are very into big hats at Farm-to-Fork), Proper closed-toed footwear (no sandals, no Keens), a sturdy water bottle and clothing that can get wrecked. THIS CAMP IS MESSY! That's a part of the reason it's so much fun.

Will you accomodate my child's dietary or physical needs?
We are happy to try and accomodate all chidlren. Please make us aware of any concerns you have in advance and we will do everything we can to assure that your child has a wonderful and safe week. We do ask that all children be potty-trained.
