Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Safe Routes to School 101 Workshop & Kick-off M...
The cities of Howard Lake, Waverly and Winsted are partnering with the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted School District to launch a Safe Routes to School initiative that will aim to increase the safety and number of students walking and biking to school. Looking ahead, we hope this effort will contribute to the development of an off-road trail connecting Howard Lake and Winsted to the middle and high school.
Facilitated by active transportation experts from the Minnesota Department of Health, this Safe Routes to School 101 Workshop will introduce the fundamentals of Safe Routes to School and serve as the kick-off meeting for this initiative in HLWW. The workshop will include presentations, discussion, and an observation of school dismissal at Winsted Elementary.
Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.
We will meet at Winsted City Hall to cover the basics of Safe Routes to School, walk 0.4 miles to Winsted Elementary to observe school dismissal, and return to City Hall to debrief and discuss next steps.
