Description

This 1 day course is for people who are interested in how design and user research work in government.

You might be a product manager, delivery manager, analyst or technologist who wants to work more effectively with designers and researchers.

Or you might be a generalist civil servant or policy maker who wants to know about the basics of design and user research.

If you have previously attended GDS design training, you should not attend this course.

We’ll cover:

  • introduction to the techniques we use to design government services that are as simple and inclusive as possible

  • fundamentals of user research and user centred design, including interaction design and content design

  • how design works on an agile team

  • and we’ll try out some paper prototyping.

To get the most benefit from attending this course, it would be useful to have some awareness of agile ways of working before you attend. If this applies to you, some options include:

This is the fourth time we are running this course, so if you sign up please be prepared to give feedback on the session.

This course is not suitable if you have already attended the GDS Academy Foundation Course.

There is no requirement to bring laptops.

The course is free to attend. Civil servants only.
