Description

“How We Move Forward” will be a workshop that focuses on issues young professionals of color may face as they are trying to progress in their careers. This will include a panel discussion with experienced community professionals offering insight on how they have been able to successfully operate within their organizations.


Panelist:

Steven Matly - CEO/Founder of SM Diversity

In 2014, Steven launched SM Diversity, a boutique hiring agency committed to helping businesses create a more diverse and inclusive workforce. By connecting them with community based organizations, subject matter experts, and experienced recruiters, his clients are able to leverage a broader network of diverse talent, ultimately resulting in an expanded marketplace.

Melannie Denise Cunningham- Director, Multicultural Outreach & Engagement

Melannie Cunningham is President and CEO of the Cunningham Network, Lakewood, WA. Melannie is a television entrepreneur. She owns and operates her own network called the "Ubuntu Center" after Nelson Mandela's saying, "I am because we are." Melannie worked in television as a producer of documentaries and talk shows before taking the job of Director of Diversity Recruitment at Pacific Lutheran University.

Leroy Wambua Mwangi - Engineer for Korry Electronics

Mr. Mwangi graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology and a Manufacturing Technologist Certification from Western Washington University. While at Western, Mr. Mwangi was the Steering Committee representative for the Black Student Union & an Outreach Coordinator for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
