Event description

Description

The plain language summary is an important part of a grant application. It describes the overall aims of the research and expected outcomes in simple terms that can be understood by the general public. The NHMRC may use the summary in grant announcements, media releases and other public documents, and - importantly- by funding partners (where applicable) to determine whether the research proposal meets their priorities for funding.

This session will be led by Anne McKenzie (Head of Consumer and Community Health Research Network) and Ben Horgan (Consumer Advocate). Both have extensive experience on providing feedback on plain language summaries at the grant development stage and have been grant reviewers. This will be a structured, hands on session where you will walk away with a complete, ready to submit plain language summary. Please bring along your draft summary to work on at the session.
