Event description

Description

Notice the title, the word ‘Currents’ appears first. That is because most people only think about ‘Tides’ and that is a big mistake for cruisers. We will address Tides, but most of our attention will be on Currents. You will be using Current data to make sure you know how to retrieve the predictions. Then, what do we DO with the current information? We will work through various scenarios such as: transiting tidal narrows, considering current in ETA planning, deciding what part of a channel to choose, factoring in the important issue of wind direction, and considering strategies for docking in a current. Let’s learn how to not fight the currents, but rather how to work WITH the currents.

Mark is Contributor, Editor and Publisher of the annual Waggoner Cruising Guide, co-author of Cruising the Virgin Islands, and nautical publisher and distributor at the Waggoner Store.
