Event Details

Join Upworthy in learning secrets of how it has become the fastest growing media website in the history of the Interwebs, even as it focuses on content that is socially meaningful.

In a two-part presentation hosted by Hacks/Hackers and KQED, Adam Mordecai, Upworthy's founding curator, will provide advanced Facebook training as he walks you through the ins and outs of getting people to come back to websites for the important stuff.

The first hour will be free, an overview of Upworthy's proprietary methodology, explaining both the tech and editorial tricks of the trade that will rapidly grow audience.

The second part of the night will be a smaller paid 90-minute workshop devoted to workshopping the framing of some content to show you exactly how you can win the Interwebs and help the meaningful stuff spread. This includes trying your own hand at writing 25 headlines, a technique inspired by The Onion and expanded by Upworthy's killer curating staff.

As the founding curator of Upworthy, Adam Mordecai finds visual content with substance and tries to make it go viral. A number of his selections have garnered millions upon millions of views.

The workshop capacity is limited so that participants can get focused attention. Dinner will be provided, most likely of the yummy Asian variety.
