Description

How to Talk to Youth about Drugs Training: With the best of intentions, parents, teachers, and counselors often do more harm than good when talking with youth about drugs and alcohol. This training is designed to give helping professionals educational and counseling strategies that work to help youth navigate the difficult issues that are present with youth substance abuse.


About the Facilitator:

Jennifer Baity is a licensed clinical social worker and licensed advanced alcohol and drug counselor. She is the Program Director at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Center on the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital campus. She provides staff and intern supervision and training; individual, group, and family treatment for adults with serious and persistent mental illness who also have problematic substance use histories; and co-developed the co-occurring disorders (dual diagnosis) program at the San Francisco Behavioral Health Center. She has provided in-depth training to clinicians providing services to youth and adults since 1991 and regularly trains staff in mental health and substance abuse programs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. She specializes in training on diagnosis and treatment of individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions and motivational interviewing.

Does the training cost money?

Mendocino County Youth Project is able to provide evidence based trainings through partnership with Mendocino County Health and Human Services/ Family and Children’s Services, Title IV-E funding. This workshop is FREE only for Mendocino County helping professionals that work with youth in foster, juvenile justice probation, or youth at high risk of entering these systems.

Do I qualify to attend this training?

This workshop is FREE only for Mendocino County helping professionals that work with youth in foster, juvenile justice probation, or youth at high risk of entering these systems. Others who qualify under this category are foster parents, offical volunteers for organizations that work with this population of youth and students enrolled in a field such as social work, AOD counsoler or Health and Human Services certificate program or related fields. If you have questions about eligibitly please contact organizer to see if you quailfy.

Should I let the organizer know if my changes plan and I am unable to attend the training?

It is very important to let the organizer know if changes change, even if it is last minute. We are scheduling materials, food, space and a lot of resources for you to be there. Please comunicate with Aurelie if you are unable to attend at (707)489-1258 or aclivaz@mcyp.og.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No

Are meals and snacks provided?

Yes. Dietary accomadation are accomadted as much as possible. Vegetarian ooptions are always offered.

Are CEU's available? If so, how do I sign up to receive CEU's?

MCYP is currently in the process of becoming a CEU provider. At this time we can not guaruntee to be able to provide CEU's for this woorkshop, but we are doing ou best to be able to. More information to come as details are confirmed.
