Description
Being admitted to college doesn’t mean a student is ready for it.
In the US just over 58% of freshmen returned to the same college for a second year.
While we can never be 100% sure that our child is ready, we know a great deal about their readiness while they are still at home surrounded by their supportive families, teachers, tutors, and friends.
But college is different than high school. In college, students, independent of parental involvement, will have to:
-
Wake themselves up on time
-
Make and manage their own appointments
-
Balance (brand new) social and academic requirements
-
Seek out help when needed
As with any transition, the students who are best prepared, know what lies ahead and plan for how they will manage the change. During our free workshop, seniors will learn:
-
How ready am I for college? (via a college readiness survey)
-
What are the differences between high school and college?
-
What are the hard decisions I am going to have to make and how will I make them?
-
How will I deal with the stress?
Going to college is a huge transition for anyone, but taking the time to prepare will decrease stress and help students feel more confident in their freshman year success.
