A workshop on how to explore power dynamics and redistribute power within civic tech networks
About this event
What will this session be about?
The purpose of this session is to share approaches to explore power dynamics and provide you with a tool to start redistributing power within civic tech networks, drawing on the innovative Humanitarian Behaviour framework developed by RedX (part of Red Cross Australia), to identify and empower change makers. You will also get the chance to work out how to apply this to your contexts during the workshop.
Led by Lina Patel of Revma Consulting and David Kaldor of the Red Cross, this workshop will introduce one framework to understand individual power and one framework to understand the role of individuals in making social change happen. Practical exercises to apply what you've learnt, so that you can return to your organisation, with the ability to identify and better empower change makers in your community. You don't have to do it all - learn how to better empower others.
About Lina:
Lina is a Facilitator & Collaboration Designer. Her mission is to alleviate needless workplace suffering and bring more kindness into the world, one team at a time. One way she does this is working with leaders to increase their power literacy through Revma Consulting.

What is the Summit?
Code for All's 2021 Summit wishes to welcome everyone and anyone interested in civic tech to attend our free sessions. From those who have been involved in the community since its inception to those only hearing about it now - all are welcome to come and find out more, make some friends, and workshop new ways to help.
What exactly is civic tech?
Civic tech, in short, is technology that positively impacts society — but that’s not the whole story. It’s about creating civic innovation tools (tools that help make more democratic, transparent and people centered governments), but it isn’t only about the tools themselves — it’s about the process through which these tools are created. Here's a good place to learn more.
Who is Code for All?
Code for All is an international network of organizations supporting each other to empower citizens to meaningfully engage in the public sphere and have a positive impact on their communities.
