Description

How to Prototype and Deploy Computational Scripts in Python using CrossCompute (Hands-On Workshop)

In this 90-minute hands-on workshop, you will learn techniques for rapidly prototyping algorithms in Python. After a brief walkthrough, we will work in groups to create and deploy tools from a list of do-it-yourself projects taken from spatial optimization, obstacle pathfinding, web scraping and natural language processing.

Some of the exercises will be featured at our upcoming meetup "Computational Approaches to Fight Human Trafficking" on Thursday, December 14th. https://www.meetup.com/spatiotemporal-analysis-for-community-health-and-safety/events/244179401/

Although proficiency in the Python programming language is not required, you must be comfortable writing code. We recommend working through sections 1-9 of the official Python tutorial https://docs.python.org/3/tutorial/index.html in order to get the most out of this workshop. Please bring a laptop.
