Description

A how to class that you have all been asking for! You will be taken step by step through the entire process of bringing a Pasture Raised Freedom Ranger Meat bird from pasture, to freezer, to table. You will take home a processed chicken, (whole or quartered) for your freezer (pre-ordered live, included in class payment). During this class, we will:

- Discuss the basics of our humane approach of raising birds, where health, flavor, quality of life and end product are more inportant than bulk fed "Fast Food"

- Go over ethical culling techniques, scalding, plucking, and evisceration for small farms and homesteads.

- Go over the uses for all parts to get the most out of your birds - no waste.

- Discuss organ meat, how to quarter your poultry and bag for freezer.

- Brining techniques as well as bone broth recipes will be included and discussed.

Your pastured poultry are included in the price of this class. This will be a hands on experience! During the first hour we will show set up, discuss tools, and demonstrate several options for processing tequniques. After a break we will walk each person through hands on with thir own chicken! We will keep this class small for plenty of one on one time.

Bring a notebook and snacks/drinks for break and be ready to learn how easy it is to raise and harvest your own healthy, happy, poultry!
