Description

How to Plan & Lead 3-hour PD Workshops

July 22nd - 23rd, 2017

Leader: Mark Schober

This two-day workshop will provide tips, training, and practice in planning and leading a successful STEM teacher professional development workshop. Teachers sharing successful classroom practices with their peers is the lifeblood of meaningful professional learning communities. For both experienced and new leaders, leading workshops is a powerful form of professional development that benefits the leader as well as the participants. Join us to prepare your best classroom practices to share with others as we explore workshop templates, encourage interactivity, collect feedback, balance paper and electronic resource sharing, discuss logistics, and consider budgets. You will leave the workshop having developed outlines and supporting materials for workshops you might run for your own school, NSTA, AAPT, AACT, NABT, or another teacher group, and I very much hope that you will offer you workshop(s) for STEMteachersNYC!

Schedule and Location: The workshop will run for 2 days (July 22, 2017 - July 23, 2017) in Manhattan, at Teachers College, Columbia University (Zankel Hall Rm 404, 525 West 120 St., New York, NY 10027). The workshop sessions will be from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
