About this Event

Feeling overwhelmed? Meet with gap year expert Jane Sarouhan of J2 Guides, parents of gappers, and alumni for a step-by-step roadmap to planning gap time that’s right for you. We’ll cover how to choose a location, which programs are operating in 2021, budgeting, and how to plan for a safe, educational, and immersive experience.

Plus, this year, we'll be announcing over $15,000+ in scholarships, so be sure to share this link with your friends and family, especially those aiming to take gap time in 2021!

This event is part of the annual USA Gap Year Fairs Series!

Come join us virtually from Nov 30, 2020 - March 31, 2021,  we'll be hosting about 40 virtual events to connect students, families, and counselors with the most up to date information about gap year options and summer opportunities in 2021.

While in-person events aren't possible, we're thrilled to continue collaborating with US high school counselors as well as gap year program providers, gap year counselors, alumni, and guest panelists to bring you a series of interactive and informative events this winter. As our 14th year of offering free educational events, we're excited to make this information even more accessible this year by embracing a virtual format.

Events will include a variety of topics like:

  • Gap year basics
  • Planning a gap year for 2021
  • Health, safety & risk management
  • Mental health benefits of taking gap time
  • Navigating the college deferral process
  • Funding your gap year
  • Domestic, international & virtual gap year options
  • Internships & work exchange
  • Volunteer & service opportunities
  • Language learning
  • Cultural exchange
  • Teach & TEFL opportunities
  • Social justice & activism
  • Sustainability & environmental conservation
  • Outdoor adventure
  • Visual, media & performing arts gap years
  • ...and more!

*Registration Tips:

Fair attendees, we're thrilled to see you at our virtual events this season. Due to the virtual nature of these events, please register to attend individually -- i.e. parents and students should register separately unless you all plan to tune in using the same computer.

Also, if you plan to attend our event and would like to request any reasonable accommodations in order to benefit from our programming, please inform us of your request via email at fairs@gooverseas.com at least 1 week prior to the event date and we will do our best to make the event accessible.
