Tue, April 25, 2017, 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM PDT
What does it mean to do social media research? If you think it's boring, you're wrong! The art of listening is what defines a business that is "socially intelligent". It's all about knowing your crowd, and engaging with them in a meaningful way. This module is designed to put you OUT THERE and known in your online community. We will discover easy ways to cut through the techno-babble and really "get" what people are doing and talking about. We'll demonstrate how to find the coolest people in your business niche and engage with them, and how to smoothly build up your following!
About your instructor, Deidre Tansey of Ampersand Media: Just a small town girl… who loves working with people! First degree was earned from UVic in Education, majoring in Fine Arts. Not busy enough raising six children, she challenged herself further by starting an interior design company. This small home-based business grew from a hobby into a design and floral company storefront, with over 700 hundred clients, both residential and commercial. Always growing and changing, Deidre's next venture was taking over a dance company and growing it into a musical theatre & dance academy.
Moving to Nanaimo in 2012 brought big changes. Deidre developed a food and lifestyle blog; Just A Pinch of Ginger, which gave her a chance to share her love for the power of social media. She then returned to school, attending VIU to study Marketing. Once again, the passion for the power of social media came through! Immediately after graduation…Ampersand Media was born.
