How to Get Published Corbin Gurkin & Shira Savada as part of Charleston Wed...
Join lauded photographer Corbin Gurkin, whose work has appeared in Martha Stewart Weddings, The Knot, Harper’s Bazaar, People, and, of course, Charleston Weddings, and Martha Stewart Weddings’ real weddings editor Shira Savada for “How to Get Published.” While the seminar and Q&A is geared toward industry vendors, all fans of these two luminaries are welcome.
We’re partial to Corbin Gurkin’s photography here at Charleston Weddings and we’re not alone. She’s a regular with Martha Stewart Weddings, The Knot, and Harper’s Bazaar, and pops up in a host of other wedding titles while shooting real-life weddings across the globe and winning PDB’s “Top Knot” wedding photographer spot two years running. Her advice for up-and-coming shooters? “Finding your visual voice is most important to a lasting career,” she says. “And,” she adds, “pay little attention to what anyone else is doing."
For the last nine years, Shira Savada has cut her journalistic teeth at Martha Stewart Weddings and today is their real weddings editor. Ever want to know how MSW picks featured weddings? Just ask Shira. “We love weddings that have great stories (it’s about love after all),” she says, “plus inspiring details, personalization, and beautiful photography. We look for new locations, new styles and techniques, and new vendors, while also trying to nd what we call ‘evergreen’ (or timeless) affairs.” Curious? Bring your questions to the workshop!
