Beyond researching a topic on the internet, interviewing a subject matter expert in a professional field can provide valuable insight on current issues. Come learn how to present yourself as a professional and establish rapport when conducting an information-gathering interview. In addition, you will learn to craft open-ended questions that will encourage the expert to expand on their thoughts - and perhaps share some surprising information!

Presenter: Karen E. Lamb

Karen Lamb is a lecturer who teaches Oral Communication: Principles & Practices in the Oral Communication Program. She is highly experienced instructor who has taught oral communication courses at community colleges and universities throughout Illinois and Arizona.

In addition, Ms. Lamb is a certified Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF). Her background in higher education includes a successful career as a career development professional and college administrator. She is especially interested in helping students understand the connection between effective communication skills and professional career success.

Developed and wrote, Strategies for Success in Career Development, a training manual for service providers who assist adult learners with the process of choosing a career, changing careers, or selecting an educational concentration. Guide complements the Women Employed website, Career Coach.
