Event Details

How To Create Anything is a day seminar and practical workshop focussed on you: your innate creative potential and how to apply it to what you most want to create in your life.

Do you know what you want to create with what the poet Mary Oliver has called "your one wild and precious life"?

Are you creating it?

Constructed around the seven stages of the creative process, as outlined in Orna Ross's groundbreaking book of the same name, the How To Create Anything workshop will give you clarity and all the skills you need to create what you most truly want.

How To Create Anything

This is a day not just for writers and artists but for everyone interested in consciously creating anything: a good relationship, more money, a happy home, a work of art, a meaningful job.

Contrary to popular belief, it's not just artists and writers who draw on the creative process. Contemporary research has confirmed what sages have always known: we're all creating all the time, sometimes consciously, more often unconsciously.

And the same process that creates one thing, creates everything.

"I know it's a big claim that we can create anything we truly want," says Orna Ross. "It is true, once you know what you're doing, but don't take my word for it. Try it and see."

Using various fun and freeing creative practices, the workshop draws on your own vast imaginative resources, insights and ideas to unfold your personal creative way -- and how to follow it.

The Creative Process

Few of us understand the process well enough to be able to draw on it with ease. In this day seminar and workshop, you will learn how.

  • How to distinguish between wants, cravings, desires, yearnings, longings and establish your true wants.

  • How to turn a true want into a robust creative intention

  • Why willpower doesn't work well and how creative intention differs from willed resolution

  • How to apply the seven stages of the creative process to what you're creating.e.g. money, a relationship, artistic production, work…
  • How to isolate your MSS - your most significant something - and the essential wants that lie behind it.

  • How to identify the limiting attitudes, beliefs, denials, expectations and fears (abcdeFs) that underlie every creative project. And how to accommodate or dissolve them.

  • How to creatively sustain your body, mind, and spirit so you can take creative risks from a place of safety.

  • How to enjoy the fun and freedom of a life in creative flow

Through fifteen years of teaching and research, Orna has seen this process work for people of all classes and creeds, in every walk of life, creating things and experiences of all kinds.

"Trying to catch hold of inspiration is like trying to hold water," she says. "The tighter you squeeze, the less you hold. What can be learned is how to work (and play) with the creative process, how to cultivate the create-state, how to get out of the way and allow your creative potential to flow."

  • Experience your own inspiration and creativity in action

  • Acquire three transformative creative practices: Effortless Exercise, Inspiration Meditation & F-r-e-e-writing.

  • Learn about the challenges inherent in living a creative life and how to relish them.

  • Enjoy music and writing, connection and conversation — and lots of laughter.

  • Be energized, motivated, uplifted and inspired.

  • Leave with a personal creative map for the month and year ahead, together with techniques that you can use again and again, whenever you want.

In short: this is a rare opportunity to spend a day with a gifted writer and teacher who knows how to facilitate you to find the skills that will create what you most truly want.

The day also includes extensive work-and-playsheet handouts and a free copy of the How To Create Anything ebook to take away.
