Event description

Description

So you have been asked to run a workshop?

This is a 2 part set of introductory workshops run over 2 weeks to help you shape your own workshop idea and put it into practice.

Starts 24 July

Those who are interested and have completed this 2 parter can come along to a 3rd session date tbc and present their workshop for feedback.

Teaching is great fun, but it is stressful too, part public speaking, part planning to create understandable content and more.

This mini-course is designed to help people formulate a short one off workshop. It's also useful for those who would like a glimpse into the issues of teaching in a formal setting as well. With the academic year beginning many of us will be teaching for the first time and this class will help you consider your personal teaching style.

Even those of us who have never thought of teaching are being asked to 'perform' at work and make a presentation. Tell others how it's done. But where to start? Or perhaps you have a business and you have been asked to share 'how you do it.' Or maybe a workshop is just what you need to show off what your bakery, florist or office has to offer.

Whatever skill you wish to translate into a workshop format, there are certain things you need to pay attention to. This hands on mini-course will

Cover basic learning concepts

Help you plan a 1 hour workshop

Introduce handy tools

Pace your material

Help you decide what to include and what to leave out

Provide peer and teacher feedback on your workshop

There will be some homework over the 3 weeks and in the last week you will give the group a taster of your workshop to help you practice in a safe and encouraging environment.

Please note this mini-course is not a qualification, nor does it cover childhood learning and is suited for those who are going to teach in a non-accredited setting or feel they need to get a little confidence..

Just book on one of the dates for the 3 classes, the cost is $68 for all 3 classes including Eventbrite charges.

Your teacher is Pamela Woods, the creator of classbunny, she has taught hundreds of students both formally and informally in universities and adult education in the UK and Australia. She has a Post GraduCertificate in Higher Education and has run undergraduate and MA courses in UK and Australian universities and she wishes there was a class like this when she was first asked to teach!

Please note: Those who are interested and have completed this 2 parter can come along to a 3rd session date tbc and present their workshop for feedback.
