How to Create a Social Justice Giving Plan During Turbulent Times

Tax time forces us to think about our giving and receiving at the federal level. This webinar offers an opportunity to make a plan for how we want to give at the grassroots level. In this challenging political climate, many of us are ready to step up our engagement with organizations who are on the front lines of resisting, protecting, and laying the groundwork for progressive change. One way to engage is by donating to grassroots, social justice organizations. But how do you decide how much and to who? Should the urgency of the current moment change the way we give? This interactive, cross-class workshop will help you begin to think through these questions and get you started with creating a giving plan that aligns with your values.

Whether you are trying to figure out how to start giving, or you are struggling with aspects of your current giving, this workshop will help you think about the big questions that can lead to a greater sense of purpose. Social Justice Fund Northwest and Resource Generation are partnering up to create this webinar and will offer joint resources, perspectives on best practices for being a donor at any level, concrete examples of giving plans and support you to plan or tweak your giving.

Resource Generation organizes young people (ages 18-35) with access to wealth and class privilege to work for the equitable distribution of wealth, land, and power. We roughly define this as people in the top 10%, or whose families are in the top 10%. If this is you, we want to connect! To do so, fill out RG’s intake form.

Social Justice Fund NW is a foundation working at the frontlines of social change. We leverage the resources of our members to foster significant, long-term social justice solutions by investing in grantees that address the root causes of injustice throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Our members build community and make grants through Giving Projects, helping to create a new, more engaged culture of social justice philanthropists.
