Description

SOCH will be hosting a series of mental health workshops to increase awareness and education about what depression is and how it can be treated. These interactive workshops will take place in both English & Punjabi.

WORKSHOP TIME: 11am-1pm

1. Saturday March 3rd: Counselling for Depression (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

2. Saturday March 17th: How Activity Supports Recovery (Behavioural Activation)

Facilitated by: Bani Ahuja, Occupational Therapist

3. Saturday March 24th: Kundalini Yoga for Depression

Facilitated by: Harvir Grewal, Kundalini Yoga Instructor

EVENT ORGANIZERS



Maneet Chahal, co-founder of SOCH, is a Registered Nurse who has worked in the field of mental health within the Region of Peel. Currently she is working on finishing her Masters of Nursing program at McMaster University. Maneet's research is examing the South Asian Punjabi communtiy's experience of accessing mental health supports for depression within the Region of Peel. Maneet is a passionate changemaker who has a vested interest to improve mental health service accessibilty for the South Asian community.



Jasmeet Chagger, co-founder of SOCH, is a Registered Nurse also working in the field of community mental health. Along with working fulltime she is attending McMaster University for her Masters of Nursing. Jasmeet's research focus is on studying alcohol addiction in the South Asian community. Jasmeet is a passionate changemaker, pushing boundaries within the field of mental health.
