Description

SOCH will be hosting a series of mental health workshops to increase awareness and education about what depression is and how it can be treated. These interactive workshops will take place in both English & Punjabi.

WORKSHOPS START @1:30PM

1. Sunday Sept 17th: Breaking the Stigma & Learning about Treatments

2. Sunday October 22nd: Counselling for Depression (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) (Dr. Gursharan Virdee- Research & Practitioner)

3. Sunday November 19th: How Activity Supports Recovery (Behavioural Activation) (Bani Ahuja- Occupational Therapist)

4. Sunday December 10th: Kundalini Yoga for Depression (Harvir Grewal- Kundalini Yoga Instructor)

September Facilitators



Maneet Chahal, co-founder of SOCH, is a Registered Nurse working in the field of mental health within the Region of Peel. When she isn't on the front lines helping clients, Maneet is working on her graduate education in the Masters of Nursing program at McMaster University. She has a vested interest to study mental health in the South Asian community.


Jasmeet Chagger, co-founder of SOCH, is a Registered Nurse also working in the field of mental health. She has previous experience working at Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) and Supportive Housing in Peel. She has also embarked her journey for her Masters of Nursing at McMaster University focusing on South Asian mental health.
