Panel experts, together with graphic novelist Sean Lam will discuss the comic industry and the content of comics such as paranormal themes that drive the interest of the readers. Supernatural specialist Charles will uncover sightings of haunted venues, especially in HDB.


		How to Concoct a Deadly Graphic Novel in the Heartland image

Sean Lam is a Singaporean author and graphic novelist. He is best known for his two-part graphic novel adaption of New York Times bestselling Larry Niven's sci-fi novel ‘Ringworld’ and a 32-page ‘Pope Benedict’ manga comic where 300,000 copies were distributed for World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid. He was also the International Award-winning artist of the bible themed graphic novel, 'Judith: Captive to Conqueror' at Angoulême Christian Comics Festival in France. Upon settling back to Singapore at the end of 2019, Sean eventually sets his heart towards writing and producing graphic novels most familiar to his roots exploring his favourite genre, covering a range of fictions from horror to sci-fi, fantasy and romance.

Lim Cheng Tju is an educator and historian who researches cartoons and woodcuts in Singapore. His articles on comic art and political prints have appeared in Southeast Asian Journal of Social Science, Journal of Popular Culture, Teaching and Learning and Print Quarterly. He is the country editor (Singapore) for the International Journal of Comic Art and also the co-editor of Liquid City 2, an anthology of Southeast Asian comics published by Image Comics. He is one of the co-authors of The University Socialist Club and the Contest for Malaya: Tangled Strands of Modernity (Amsterdam University Press/NUS Press).


		How to Concoct a Deadly Graphic Novel in the Heartland image

Charles Goh is the founder of a research-based paranormal society (Asia Paranormal Investigators) based in Singapore that strives to systematically analyse strange occurrences in Singapore and the region. He is also an STB (Singapore Tourist Board) Specialised Tourist Guide for Ghost Tours, the only such Guiding License to be issued in Singapore. Charles has appeared on numerous media platforms, and together with Raymond Goh, his elder brother and co-founder of the society, was named Personality of the Year in 2014 by Lianhe Zaobao, for their interesting discoveries on Old Singapore, particularly the findings of ancient graves belonging to many of Singapore’s forefathers.
