Event description

Description

The Northwest is full of some of the most amazing dogs and the most amazing runner / bikers in the world. It is time to combine these amazing dogs and human athletes into a deeply bonded human & canine team. It's time for the Northwest to learn about dog powered sports.

Have you ever heard of Bikejor or Cannicross? Those are two variations of dog powered sports. These are sports where human and canine compete together. While it is called "dog powered" it is truly a deep combination of human and canince physical expression. Cannicross is where a dog is harnessed and connected to a human and they run together. Bikejor is a sport where the dog is connected to a mountain bike and the rider and dog ride / run together down the trail! This is a growing sport and a fantastic opporunity for people with dogs who need safe and healthy exercise.

This event will be an opportunity to learn about these sports and practice with your dog. The event will be put on by Dan Hanks, a member of Team USA National Team for 1 & 2 Dog Sports. By the end of the training, participants will understand the basic process and commands, participants will feel comfortable beginning to bike, run, and train with their dog.
