Meet the Speakers: Jesse Owens
Jesse is a technology product professional with over 12 years of experience spanning across multiple industries including FinTech, Education, and Military Defense . Currently, he's a Senior Product Owner for MasterCard building innovative omnichannel Consumer and API digital payment solutions that will power the MasterPass product for over 290k merchants globally.
Prior to MasterCard, Jesse was a Product Manager at Imagine Easy Solutions (recently acquired by Chegg), an education technology startup company that has grown into the largest online bibliography site on the web with over 80 million active users through its product EasyBib. During his tenure at Imagine Easy Solutions, he built product features to enhance the design and usability of the product suite as well as provide seamless integration with partners through well-packaged web services.
Before joining Imagine Easy Solutions, Jesse started his career at J.P. Morgan in various application development roles in the Asset Management and Investment Banking space focused on the development of internal and external messaging service solutions for the front, middle, and back office of the institution. He's also a proud alum of Norfolk State University, where he majored in Computer Science while conducting auxiliary research in Iris Recognition, Securing E-Commerce Transactions, and Scaling a Distributed Database Architecture across an Enterprise.
Taya intended to be a biochemistry major at the University of Chicago, but as a student working in a leukemia research lab she found myself far more interested in the design work preparing data for publication than the actual research. She changed her major to fine art and computer science and, hasn't looked back since.
After roles in visual design, UX research, front end engineering, and analytics, she realized she was a “product manager" in the making.
Her early product experience is in education technology, developing a custom K-12 Android tablet and high stakes assessment tools for accreditation. More recently she has been working on two-sided marketplace products with both enterprise and consumer-facing experiences focusing on new user acquisition. She is currently product director at Artsy where they’re on a mission to make art as accessible as music by educating more people about how to appreciate and collect original artworks.
When not working, she can usually be found putting off going running, trying a new local beer, or watching Next Generation reruns.
