Interested in finding out more information about what to do after high school? Are you a community college student looking to transfer to a four year university, but don't know which school might be best for you?
Then come out to the 2nd Annual EMERGE "How to Apply to College" workshop series!!!!! In partnership with The 100 Black Men off Long Beach & NAACP starting Nov. 7, 2019 6:30-8pm, this seven week long workshop series offers high school and community college students free fee waivers and guided assistance through the college and FAFSA application process. Each week we will bring in one admissions officer from the Community Colleges, Cal States, UCs, and HBCU to guide students ono how to complete the application process for each respective institution. Additionally, we will have a Financial Aid officer walk them through the process for completing the FAFSA and have a special screening of "Beyond Measure", a documentary written and directed by scholar Dr Sheela Hoyle, which highlights various stories of Black male success. In addition, there will be an alumni meet and greet to wrap up the series.
Come learn how to:

Write personal statements and responses to personal inquiry questions.

Build a resume.

Apply for scholarships and grants.

Compose a personal statement for scholarship applications & college admissions.

Develop a college prep educational plan for 9-12th grade.
