Event description

Description

Baking is literally our bread and butter in New York City, making up the majority of food manufacturing business within all five boroughs.

Join us on December 8th for a behind-the-scenes look at the baking industry, plus a taste of homemade croissants, bagels, and fresh bread! Guest speakers include Gene Davidovich from Davidovich Bakery, Uliks Fehmiu from Pain D'Avignon, Lee Wellington from the Urban Manufacturing Alliance, and a special guest from the new Eataly in downtown Manhattan, which has a special focus on bread.

We'll learn what it takes to operate a food production and distribution business in New York City, and the unique role that public markets -- like Essex Street Market -- play in supporting the baking industry. The evening will start with a tasting from Davidovich Bakery and Pain D'Avignon from 6:30-7pm, and then a panel discussion from 7-8pm.

This event is made possible with support from Turnstile Tours, Urban Manufacturing Alliance, and Hair of the Dog.
