Description

This presentation will focus on the internet, gaming, social media, and all screen related activities and their effects on adolescents and young adults. Presenters will cover how neuro-counseling can be used to treat internet abuse/addiction and address managing screen time to protect mental and physical health.

  • Understanding the brain as a neural network
  • Internet and it’s impact on the developing brain
  • Social media and mental and physical health
  • Psycho-education on screen use/abuse
  • Sleep hygiene and screens
  • Understanding the history and development of Internet use in a Western Culture
  • Positive and negative aspects of screen time based on the age of consumer
  • Understanding how to help young clients implement a healthy and balanced lifestyle
  • AAP and APA recommendations for screen use for developing brain
