Lawrence Street Gallery presents “How Many More?” an anti-assault weapon themed all media exhibit where local artists will display artwork depicting how they regard the use and ownership of assault weapons. Lawrence Street Gallery invites artists to respond to an anti-assault weapon themed exhibit during the month of March 2017. The application form can be downloaded from our website (www.lawrencestreetgallery.com) or you can call the gallery @ 248.544.0394 for more info or to request a form. This show is an attempt to use our talents and ideas to create artwork depicting how we regard the use and ownership of assault weapons. Artists are looking at this issue in their unique style. Some have already created work on this theme, for others it is brand new. Jan Brown, LSG member artist, was very upset after the Orlando shootings and proposed a show for the gallery dealing with this theme. Fellow member artists were very supportive and she opened it up to artists on Facebook. Since then, she has heard from artists who would like to participate in this show. Thus, in March the first 60 artists who enter the show will be guaranteed that one of their pieces will be in the show. Artists will be asked to write a short blurb on why the piece was created, thus allowing viewers a chance to see into the artists' minds as well as observe their creations. The show will run from March 1 through March 31. Opening reception is March 3 and is free and open to the public. The Best of Show award will be by public vote and results will be announced at the closing ceremony on March 31. More info at www.lawrencestreetgallery.com or call 248.544.0394.
