EVENT DESCRIPTION

Join us for this unique live panel discussion, where four international Biotech/Pharma companies with an affiliate office in Cambridge will share their journeys on starting their business in the Greater Boston area. What challenges did you face? How does your company support the Cambridge ecosystem? Which are the advantages/disadvantages of being in Boston? These are some of the questions that will be discussed, but the panel will be open to the audience to promote an active discussion.

The panel discussion will be followed by a special networking event with food and drink from the countries of the participating companies: Basque Country, Canada, China, and France.

 

Speakers:

Moderator

  • Stas Gayshan – Managing Director at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) and founder of CIC Boston.

Stas leads the development of new CIC projects in the Americas, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and beyond, connecting innovators across boundaries and borders. He joined CIC in early 2014. Previously, he was the Founder & CEO of Space with a Soul, a 20,000 square foot coworking space in Boston’s Innovation District.

 

Panelists

  • Arantza Muriana – CEO at Biobide USA

Arantza is the Co-founder, Global R&D Director and CEO of Biobide USA. MSc in Pharmacy, she holds a Master degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and R&D of New Drugs, and an MBA from the San Pablo CEU University (Spain), which allowed her improving her management and business development skills. She began working in CROs 16 years ago, initially in the field of Clinical Trials to later move to the preclinical field in 2006. She came to Boston 2 years ago to set up and manage Biobide’s affiliate office in the USA.

  • Jean-René Bélanger – CEO at Imeka

Jean-René is CEO of Imeka, a Canadian company that combines Artificial Intelligence and diffusion MRI to map the brain's white matter integrity. This technology is used to help pharmaceutical and biotech companies develop treatments for neurodegenerative diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. He has been at this position for 8 years, overseeing the young company's growth and opening of the office in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the past year. He owns a bachelor's degree in business administration.

  •  Patrick Tricoli – CEO at Nanobiotix USA

Patrick is Doctor in Pharmaceutical Sciences, holds a Master degree in Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetic and an Executive MBA from ESCP Europe. He joined Nanobiotix team in September 2014 as VP Corporate Development and he is in charge of the Nanobiotix US affiliate. From 1996 to 2007, Patrick led the Valorization and Innovation team within Sanofi-Aventis R&D, managing up to 40 collaborative R&D projects in France, Germany and at the European level. In 2007, he was appointed Global Deputy Head of Partnering and Innovation R&D Department and in 2009 he became head of External Innovation Europe for Sanofi.

  •  Yulian Zhang - Business Development Executive Director at KELUN Pharmaceutical

Yulian Zhang, Ph.D., MBA, currently working at Kelun Pharmaceuticals as a Business Development executive director.  She is based in Boston.  Yulian has nearly 20 years of R&D and BD in the biopharma industry, in the areas of medicinal chemistry, antibody manufacturing, clinical trial management, and equity research. She has worked both in large pharma and small biotech firms, such as GSK, Vertex, Lexicon, Blueprint Medicines, and Actinium Pharma. She obtained her MBA from New York University, a PhD from Temple University in Chemistry, and a BS from Jilin University as gifted young student.
