Description

Hear the story of how Lord Bilimoria turned a start-up company into a £60 million pound business

Lord Karan Bilimoria funded in 1989, having realised that Britain deserved a better, smoother, less gassy lager. Using only the finest natural ingredients and a traditional blend of barley malt and yeast with maize, hops and rice, her created an extra smooth beer, quite unlike any other. Originally planned to be called Panther, the beer was ready to go but the name wasn’t popular with customers and so the name was changed to Cobra and the eleventh hour. The rest, as they say, is history.

At this special event, hear the story of how Cobra beer grew from a small start-up to a brand that turns over £60 million and has a 90% market share of all Indian restaurants in the UK.

Lord Bilimoria, an Ambassador for the Business & IP Centre, will share his top hints and tips on leadership, marketing and creating effective distribution channels and share with you the inspiring story of how he turned his business into a market-leader.

This event is being delivered as part of the British Library Business & IP Centre’s Start-up Day 2017 – a full day of free events training and inspirational talks designed to help you turn your business idea into a reality.
