Event Details

Functional programming is hot. Languages such as Clojure and Scala have demonstrated that functional techniques and languages make programs shorter, easier to write, and easier to maintain. The growth of distributed processing and multiple cores have accelerated interest even further.

Python isn't a functional language, but it does contain some constructs from that world.  If you are a Python programmer, then you have probably heard about some of them, such as list comprehensions and passing functions as parameters. But these techniques often seem strange, foreign, or inaccessible to many Python programmers. This is not only because the ideas are new and different, but also because the syntax can be surprising and confusing to many developers.

In this free Webinar, Python developer, trainer, and author Reuven Lerner introduces some of the most common and useful functional programming techniques. You'll come away with tools that will make your Python programs shorter, easier to maintain, and more modular -- and you'll open your mind to many new ideas, as well!  The presentation/lecture will be approximately 45 minutes long, with plenty of time for Q&A afterwards.

The Webinar is free, and there is no obligation beyond attending.   You'll need nothing beyond a Web browser, some basic Python knowledge, and a sense of humor.

Update: Now that I know how popular this Webinar is, I'm choosing an appropriate technology.  You will receive a URL before the Webinar begins.  I plan to be able to record this, for those who cannot attend live -- although I also plan to do many more of these Webinars in the future, so don't feel like this is your last chance!

Also: You'll be asked by the EventBrite system to confirm your inclusion in my technology newsletter.  If you're interested in subscribing to that, then just click on the link.  If you're not, then just ignore the e-mail that you receive about "Reuven's technology insights."
