Topic

Analytics teams are playing an increasingly critical role across industries. Many companies wrestle with the problem of scaling their analytics teams and maximizing the value they are extracting from their data.

Over the past few years, the Analytics team at Etsy has grown from a small centralized team to a group of over 30 analysts and data scientists. They are embedded throughout most key business units, playing a critical role in decision-making across the company.

During this discussion, we’ll share Etsy's data journey, highlighting some key lessons learned and how Etsy evolved its various operations, from its engagement model to its analytical toolkit. In addition, we’ll showcase two specific use cases illustrating how analytics works at Etsy in collaboration with its Marketing and Finance teams.

Gerald van den Berg is currently a VP of Analytics and Strategic Finance at Etsy. He has been working in various analytical roles at Etsy for the last 6 years, across marketing, product, and finance. Prior to Etsy, Gerald was a management consultant at Booz&Co (now Strategy&) focused in the Consumer and Retail space.
