Join Dr. Kevin Clark, professor and director of the Center for Digital Media Innovation and Diversity at George Mason University, and Dr. Shira Lee Katz, Content Strategy Manager for Kids, Teens, and Family at Netflix, for a conversation about the depictions of race and ethnic identity in children’s television and movies. The presentation will be a thoughtful and interactive discussion of some of the latest research, social impacts, case studies, and industry perspectives regarding representations of race in kids shows and movies.

When: Thursday, November 30th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm


Timeline:

6:30pm - 7:00pm: Arrivals, mingle, and snacks

7:00pm - 8:00pm: Discussion on diversity led by Kevin and Shira. Q & A to follow.

8:00 - 8:30pm: More mingling

9:00pm - 10:00pm: (Optional) No-host dinner at a nearby restaurant


Please RSVP by Tuesday, November 28th, as of now we are booked in a smaller space with the option to go up in size if needed. Please be sure to RSVP and make sure friends RSVP to ensure that we have enough room for everyone to enjoy.

If you’re able, please bring $5-$10 cash to chip in for snacks and drinks for the event.

There is an optional dinner following the event. This will be at a nearby restaurant (TBD we will book a reservation closer to the event.) Please specify if you’d like to come to the event only or the event and dinner.
