What is the event about?

At the University of Westminster, we believe that research is most valuable when it involves the people it affects. This series of workshops is all about exploring how researchers and communities can work together to make research more meaningful and impactful. Join us for an in-person gathering where academics and community leaders will share their experiences and ideas on how to collaborate effectively in research. Whether you're a researcher, a community member, or just curious, this event will offer valuable insights into how we can make research more inclusive and beneficial for everyone.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome members of the public and patient groups to share their thoughts and experiences of working on research projects. Through interactive activities, we’ll explore ways to bring researchers and communities closer together, working as partners to shape and improve research.

What can you expect?

This interactive workshop will feature guided discussions on how the public can get involved in research at our university. Activities will include:

"Research in Real Life" – A storytelling session where people share their experiences with research.
Speed Networking – A chance to meet and connect with others to spark new collaborations.
"From Idea to Dissemination" – A hands-on exercise to explore how research develops from start to finish.
"The Ideal Research Partnership" – A creative challenge to design the perfect collaboration between researchers and communities.

All activities are interactive and designed to help us learn how to work together more effectively in research.

When and where will the event take place?

The event is on the 30th of April from 14:00 to 17:00 at the University of Westminster - Little Titchfield Street Campus Room B.01 (4–12 Little Titchfield Street London W1W 7BY). Hot/cold drinks and light refreshments will be provided.

What is the benefit of participating in this event?

By joining this event, you’ll have the chance to influence how researchers work with communities, making research more inclusive and impactful. It’s a great opportunity to connect with researchers and other community members, build new partnerships, and help shape future studies. As a thank-you for your time and input, we’re offering a £50 voucher to all public participants (subject to approval by the event host).
