How can we help our participants write better essays on the TASC Writing subtest?  Part 1 (3 hours)

Many test-takers struggle with the Essay component of the TASC Writing subtest. In this two-part workshop, participants will explore some of the possible challenges students face when preparing to write both informational and argumentative essays. Challenges includes analyzing the writing prompt, close reading of supporting text and extrapolating information, paraphrasing information, determining relevant information, and citing details appropriately. In part 1, participants will focus upon the critical reading strategies associated with writing text-based informational and argumenttative essays. In each workshop, we will discuss and build upon the teaching resources provided by the CUNY Teaching Guide to the TASC Writing Skills Test.  This is a two-part workshop.
