Houston Africa Diaspora Museum Tour
The Houston African Diaspora Museum Tour features the most extensive exhibits of African Diaspora art and artifacts in Houston. The tour will also point out Egypt-influenced architecture throughout the country's fourth largest city.
This tour is designed and led by Sacred Lands Tours under the leadership of Perry Kyles, Ph.D. Dr. Perry Kyles’ background is in archaeology and history. He has conducted field research, archival research, and lectured on three different continents.
Location: Shrine Cultural Center, 5309 Martin Luther King Blvd., Houston, TX 77021.
We will provide all travel from the Shrine Cultural Center. We will be meeting at the Shrine Cultural Center, 5309 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Houston, TX 77021. We will be meeting at 9 AM. The bus will be departing promptly at 9:15 AM. The bus will return to the Shrine Cultural Center about 4PM.
The tour will include:
The expert instruction of trained archaeologist and historian Perry Khepera Kyles, Ph.D
The Hall of Paleontology and the Hall of Ancient Egypt at the Houston Museum of Natural Science
The West Africa History and Culture exhibit and the Statements: African American Art exhibit along with ancient South American artifacts that reveal African influence - all at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts
Catered lunch that includes vegan, vegetarian, or traditional options
Guided tour of the Holocaust Museum at the Shrine Cultural Center (optional)
