House Show: Stephen Day & Sean Rowe
Stephen Day is a Nashville based singer/songwriter, born and raised in Buford, GA, where he ate breakfast regularly at his favorite local restaurant, Papa Jacks. He now lives with 8 of his best friends in a 6 bedroom house located in Nashville, TN! As a songwriter, Stephen loves to write songs, play them for people, and be with those people.
Sean Rowe will be back on the road in support of his new album, to be released in April 2017. The album, entitled New Lore, is a bold step forward from Rowe’s previous 3 critically acclaimed albums, which were released with Anti-Records.
On this one, Rowe decided to take a different approach, successfully rallying his fans to raise over $50,000 in 14 days on Kickstarter. The incredible support enabled Rowe to gather the best of the best: Engineer/Producer Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price), Drummer Ken Coomer (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo), and Pianist Rick Steff (Cat Power) to name a few.
Recorded at the legendary Philips Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, Rowe describes the album as “the closest thing to a concept album that I’ve ever made. The central thread that connects these songs is family and life on the road--trying to balance the troubadour life, touring, performing and fighting to keep the family together through all of it...I’ve come to a place where just about every decision surrounding the making of this record was made from raw instinct”.
Indeed, that raw instinct can be heard in not only the lyrics, but in the pure and heart-stopping vocals that the team of Ross-Spang and Rowe were able to capture. The record speaks for itself, as do Rowe’s notoriously moving live performances over the past 7 years. With this album, he is sure to bring even more of that captivating baritone and incredible lyricism to the stage this spring.
