House Concert w/ Bruce Forman
Sat, December 17, 2016, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM PST
It's time for another house concert. This time we will be featuring Bruce Forman!
This is a true honor and treat for me because Bruce Forman is the single biggest influence on me as a musician. When I was discovering Jazz in my late teens while living in Spokane, WA, someone turned me onto Bruce. I was immediately taken by his virtuosity and musicality. He instantly became my favorite guitar player—and still is to this day! I had originally planned to attend Berklee College of Music, but after finding out that Bruce lived in San Francisco, I instead decided to move to San Francisco to study with Bruce. The rest, as they say, is history.

The first set will be a performance of The Red Guitar. The second set will be solo guitar and maybe a few guest performers.
Here is a short blurb about The Red Guitar
With simultaneous playing and narrative, the project is an exploration of the psychology and spirituality of music. The Red Guitar accompanies us into the motivations for playing and explores the sacrifices and humanity of jazz and the creative process.
The Red Guitar: Do you play it or does it play you?
Written and performed by Bruce Forman, Guitar “Imagine an evening with John Coltrane, Sigmund Freud and Faust, and you're invited to the party. Sound like a devilish "'Trane-wreck"? It's all that and more in Bruce Forman's 'The Red Guitar', a musical and narrative journey into the influences and temptations that shape an artist's soul. It's a melting pot of jazz virtuosity and dazzling word play that swings with humor, hardship, insight and hope.” -Peter Coyote
All donations will be appreciated. If you choose to donate, there will be a tip jar.
