The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts.
At the Lebanon Public Library's Hour of Code, we will teach you how to write code and program video games, animations, and more! We'll have raspberry Pi computers set up, where you'll be able to hack Minecraft, write electronic music with code, and animate your drawings. There will also be coding games for participants of all ages and skill levels. Also be sure to check out our 3D printer and learn how it uses code to create 3D objects. Whether you want to improve your skills with HTML, or you've never coded a day in your life, our Hour of Code is for you!
We encourage you to bring your own devices, such as a laptop or Raspberry Pi but we will have plenty available.
This event is for all ages, but younger children must be accompanied by an adult. (some computer experience is encouraged, but not necessary)
