Event description

Description

Trade policy is more important than ever. The administration frequently cuts through even the most madcap of news cycles with announcements on tariffs and trade negotiations; but what are the ins and outs of these issues and what are the macro trends driving the current discussion?

The Government Affairs Industry Network (GAIN) is pleased to invite you to our second annual panel on Trade. This panel is part of GAIN’s Hot Topics in Public Policy series, focused on issues currently — or soon-to-be — moving through the 116th Congress. These panels bring together thought leaders in the industry to discuss the current state-of-play, providing insights and intel to help attendees stay ahead of the game in the policy discussions heating up DC.

Come hear from our panel of trade experts as they provide updates on a broad range of topics like the U.S.-China trade war, USMCA ratification, and trade policy enforcement.

GAIN is pleased to partner with Samsung, the Washington International Trade Association (WITA) and Young Trade Professionals on this event.

Confirmed Panelists Include:

  • Moderator: Scott Thompson; Senior Director and Head Public Policy Counsel - Samsung Electronics America
  • Josh Kallmer; Executive Vice President, Global Policy - Information Technology Industry Council
  • Linda Dempsey; Vice President, International Economic Affairs - National Association of Manufacturers
  • Sage Chandler;
  • Jake Colvin; Vice President and Executive Director of the Global Innovation Forum - National Foreign Trade Council

We have designed this event to fully comply with US Senate Rule 35.1(d)(1), US House Ethics Manual pp. 41-47, and the U.S. Executive Branch Gift Rules regarding the “widely attended event” exception to the gift rules. US Senate and House staff are advised to consult with the US Senate and House Ethics Committee to confirm this analysis. US Executive Branch employees are advised to consult with their agency counsel. State and municipal employees are advised to consult with their agency counsel as to applicable gift rules for their jurisdiction before participating in the event.

This is an informal, off-the-record discussion that is closed to the media.
