Bios:

Hailed as “the Steve Jobs of classical music” (Observer), Aubrey Bergauer (Panelist) is known for her results-driven, customer-centric, data-obsessed pursuit of changing the narrative for symphony orchestras. A “dynamic administrator” with an “unquenchable drive for canny innovation” (San Francisco Chronicle), her leadership as Executive Director of the California Symphony propelled the organization to double the size of its audience and nearly quadruple the donor base. A graduate of Rice University with degrees in Music Performance and Business, Bergauer’s work and leadership has been covered in national publications including Entrepreneur, Thrive Global, Wall Street Journal, and Southwest Airlines and Symphony magazines, and she is a frequent speaker at universities and conferences inside and outside the arts.

Brian Sonia-Wallace (Poet) is the West Hollywood City Poet Laureate and a national 2021 Laureate Fellow for the Academy of American Poets for LGBTQ+ poetry activism. In 2020, Harper Collins published his book The Poetry of Strangers: What I Learned Traveling America with a Typewriter. Brian has been published in Poets.org, 14poems, Rattle, Rolling Stone, LitHub, and The Guardian, and has spent the last decade writing poems for over 10,000 strangers based on their stories in a string of unlikely residencies, ranging from Amtrak to the Mall of America. Brian’s custom poetry business, RENT Poet, was featured on NPR’s How I Built This. Its motto is, “everyone needs a poem.” More at briansoniawallace.com and @rentpoet.

David Holland (Panelist) is the Deputy Director at WESTAF where he leads its advocacy and public policy programs; heads external relations; and spearheads leadership and professional development programming, grantmaking and technical assistance and consulting services across teams. Holland previously served as associate director of the Arts and Business Council of Greater Boston and in leadership positions with VCU da Vinci Center for Innovation, VCU School of the Arts, ART 180, the Latin Ballet of Virginia, Arts & Business and the UK innovation foundation Nesta. He also serves as the Co-Chair of the Creative States Coalition and on the Cultural Advocacy Group. Holland holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Amherst College and master’s degrees in international studies and diplomacy and the history of art from the University of London, SOAS.

Estrellx Supernova (Artist) is a queer, non-binary AfroIndigenous choreographer, performer and healer whose roots extend into Belize, Angola, Portugal/Spain and other Diasporas. Estrellx Supernova focuses on their solo choreographic work and role as the Founder/Cosmic Energetic Orchestrator of an entrepreneurial ecosystem called Estrellx Supernova & The Cosmic Angels (their choreographic healing collective) and The School(s) of Tenderness (working title), a network of (13) schools / hive sites located near energetic Earth chakras/vortexes run by and for Black, Indigenous, Queer, Trans, & Allied Creatives. Choreographically, Estrellx integrates club spaces as sites of generative dissonance, Qi Energetics, divination, and somatic work into their ritualistic performative language. Estrellx asks, "are we celebrating or mourning or both? what do you really want and how exactly do you want it?"

For the past 13 years, Jessica Moneà Evans (Somatic Guide) has traveled the world managing a variety of dance and theater productions, wellness retreats and comedy shows. As a native from North Carolina, growing up with a big family, she has always carried the energy of joy and could bring entertainment to any environment. With training from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and California Institute of the Arts, she has developed a passion for inspiring individuals to attack their dreams one step at a time. With this concept she developed Nu-Bein Hippie, a company that provides a platform and resources for individuals to explore and develop ideas, projects and visions.

Kristina Wong (Panelist) is a performance artist, comedian, writer and elected representative in Koreatown Los Angeles who has been presented internationally across North America, the UK, Hong Kong and Africa. Kristina founded Auntie Sewing Squad, a national network of volunteers sewing masks for vulnerable communities. They have a book from University of California Press. The experience of erecting this remote factory turned national mutual aid collective at the start of the pandemic is the subject of “Kristina Wong, Sweatshop Overlord”-- a “New York Times Critics Pick” that premiered off-Broadway at New York Theater Workshop and is nominated for two Lortel Awards.

Matt McCourt (Engagement Producer - White Queer/Asexual Cis-Male) is excited to bring his experience in program management and community organizing to support attendees at Artist Magnet Justice Alliance’s upcoming event, Hot Justice. Matt has spent over ten years working in nonprofit administration with a developed focus on adolescent programming supporting mental health and trauma informed care. He has spent his past five years working as a Resident Assistant with San Francisco Ballet’s pre-professional dancers. His recent major event work was while attending UC Berkeley’s Masters in Social Welfare program through the Social Justice Symposium and At the Intersections Workshop Series.

Rosa Lisbeth Navarrete (Moderator) is a Los Angeles based writer, actor and director who supports nonprofit organizations. She is a Teaching Artist in Southern California and works with Justice for My Sister, Invertigo Dance Theatre and Casa 0101 Theater. Rosa completed her training in The Art of Leadership: From Individual Voice to Collective Impact with the Los Angeles County of Arts (2020) and recently directed a virtual performance titled Feliz: An American Play written by Michael J. Sydney Rogers aka Miss Barbie-Q (Panelist) has been in the entertainment and activist field for over three decades. She identifies as a Black Non-Binary Trans Femme, bringing more visibility and healing to the TGI (Trans, Gender Diverse, Intersex) community through artivism. The positions they currently hold in life are: Training & Education Manager at Trans Can Work, Director of the TG/Enby Project, and a few other positions. She strongly believes in being trauma-informed and advocates for mental health healing, empowerment and social justice for all, particularly in the BIPOC TGI communities. They have performed in several films, music videos and social justice campaigns globally. They have sat on and moderated many panels and discussions with organizations such as Equality California and Trauma-Informed LA. They are currently in grad school at Simmons University to become a licensed social worker. She is a published author in books and online. They recently have been featured in the NY Times and performed at the inaugural Beverly Hills Pride.

For over a decade, David Mack (Host) has managed some of California's most innovative dance, opera and theatre companies, including: The Industry, Joe Goode Performance Group and Watts Village Theater Company. Additionally, he has consulted for a variety of performing arts organizations, including: Center Theatre Group, L.A. Dance Project and Ate9 Dance Company. Moreover, Mack has served on the boards of several arts organizations, including: Western Arts Alliance, LA County Department of Arts and Culture Cultural Equity and Inclusion Initiative Advisory Committee, and Theatre Producers of Southern California. Mack is Founder and Strategic Executive Officer of Artist Magnet, a social network for theatre people (which includes Theatre Magnet, a consulting firm for emerging arts administrators, and the Artist Magnet Justice Alliance, an advocacy, professional development and fiscal receivership firm for emerging arts leaders).
