Let's make a difference in the life of a child...young students continue to suffer a huge retention loss in their critical reading skills. Reading scores are at a 30-year low. The need for our reading program, which helps transition struggling students from one grade level to another, is greater than ever!

This is The Literacy Project’s highlight event which supports the agency’s services to our most vulnerable children.

Help us give the gift of literacy!

About the organizer

The Literacy Project’s (TLP) mission is to eliminate the literacy gap of emerging second graders who are functionally illiterate. Our vision is to remove the impediment of illiteracy from the lives of our most vulnerable children with the help of teachers, volunteers, mentors and role models. We will continue to grow organically while developing new strategies, products and tools that will be saleable, verifiable, and sustainable. And, we will strive to foster in our children the life-long love of reading, for it is the doorway to learning and achieving the American Dream.

The TLP reading program accesses and enhances key phonetic skills among struggling readers in second grade at “no cost” to both the child and the school. The program promotes learning in a fun, social and interactive environment; uses proven methods to maximize the learning experience; ensures literacy for the crucial third-grade literacy milestone; and fosters self-sufficiency and economic success through academic and attitudinal achievement.
