Doug Ward is an associate professor of journalism at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications and the associate director of the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) at the University of Kansas.
Doug is a cultural historian who shifted into new media and is leading the creation of an online master’s program in digital content strategy. He blogs about higher education for CTE and has written about teaching, technology and education for such publications as The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed and PBS MediaShift.
He was the Scripps Howard Foundation Journalism and Mass Communication Teacher of the Year for 2011, and he was an editor at The New York Times before joining the faculty at KU.
Jammie Johnson is graduate advisor at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications. She holds a Master of Science degree in Student Personnel Administration from the University of Central Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Theory and Human Relations from Park University.
For the last 24 years, she has held various positions in higher education and training and development, including University of Kansas, program assistant; Park University, director of student activities/resident hall director; INROADS, talent pool/recruitment coordinator; Penn Valley Community College, student activities assistant; and J. Johnson & Associates, consultant.
Jammie comes from a family of educators and always heard that “education is the key to success.” She takes pleasure in assisting graduate students in their quest for academic, career and personal success.
