This two-hour core module will help you understand the basics behind pesticide labels, ingredients, formulations, signal words, precaution statements, and environmental hazard statements. Directions for mixing and loading, application, storage, and disposal also will be covered.
- 10:10 a.m.: Flowering Shrubs for the Suncoast – Bob Mertens
The bright colors and unique textures of flowering shrubs add to the tropical ambience of the Sarasota area and as green industry professionals, we need to be aware of the common pests that can attack our flowering plants. From the L&O to the LCLM, learn how these pests can be controlled through IPM and the minimal use of pesticides.
- 11 a.m.: Landscape Trees for the Suncoast – Bob Mertens
Trees are an indispensible part of the landscape, vital in combating environmental pollution. From the L&O to the LCLM, learn the best varieties of trees for the Sarasota area, how to recognize and treat common insect and disease problems, and how to reduce the use of pesticides through proper cultural and IPM practices.
