Detailed Itinerary :
Day 01 Guwahati – Kaziranga National Park
Arrive Guwahati by air/train. We will drive down to Kaziranga National Park today and check into lodge/eco camps. A world heritage site hosting two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned rhinoceros, it also boasts the highest density of tigers among the protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006.
“Kaziranga National Park excites the senses, arrest the soul. It beckons a visit.”
Day 02 Kaziranga National Park
Early morning explore the National Park (Central range) on elephant back. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are hog deer, swamp deer, wild buffalo, and elephants and if you are lucky, yes the tiger. It is virtually a paradise for bird watchers, with a variety of migratory and resident birds darting from tree to tree. We will return to the lodge for breakfast. Later visit the park with jeep safaris inside the park until dusk. Dinner and overnight.
Day 03 Kaziranga National Park – Kohima
Early morning after a good breakfast, we drive to Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland. Check into the tents in our camp sites near the festival ground. Later time permitting visit the Kisama Heritage Village where the Hornbill Festival takes place. Make good use of your time and get a glimpse of the festival ground. Return to your camps for overnight stay.
Day 04 Kohima
After an early breakfast, make your way to the festival ground. Make use of your full day at the festival exploring the various cultural performances, crafts, sports, food fairs, games and ceremonies. Visit the traditional Morungs Exhibition and the ethnic food stalls. This is a perfect picture of Nagaland with its 16 major tribes and numerous sub-tribes in the region. Return to your campsites for your overnight stay.
Day 05 Kohima
Another day to experience this extravagant festival, you know most of the ground by now. However performances are different so you still have this day to explore more of the tribal culture throughout the day. Eat drink and make merry among the colourful Naga tribes in their traditional tribal costumes all around you.
Day 06 Kohima – Dimapur Fly out
After an early breakfast drive to the Dimapur/Guwahati airport for your onward journey.
